ESB And Bord Na Móna To Develop Large Solar Farm
ESB and Bord na Móna are set to unveil plans regarding the development of a large solar farm in an area of Kildare in the Republic of Ireland.
The two companies, who will invest more than €5 million believe that the reduction in the cost of solar technology makes this a viable way to provide power to houses and businesses across Ireland.
ESB CEO Pat O'Doherty said the new partnership between the two companies can help Ireland to meet its carbon reduction targets.
"This new partnership - with the potential to power 150,000 homes and businesses - reinforces our confidence in solar to help Ireland meet its carbon reduction targets beyond 2020," he said.
The CEO of Bord na Mona, Mike Quinn, said that the solar industry was now a major player in providing electricity. The solar industry, although in its infancy here in Ireland, has the potential to form an important part of Ireland's future energy mix in the medium to long term," he said.
