UK Ok For Centrosolar

Centrosolar modules certified for the British market
Centrosolar AG has received MCS certification for the British market for its crystalline solar modules. This British Board of Agrément (BBA) accreditation confirms the high quality of the modules, which is required for the sale of photovoltaic systems in the United Kingdom.

Founded in September, the Centrosolar subsidiary, headquartered in London, is now ready to enter the market. By receiving the certificates under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), the path is clear for the company to penetrate the British market. Since the government instituted feed-in tariffs for solar systems in April, the United Kingdom has become one of the most attractive markets for solar products in Europe.

Centrosolar has received certification for its entire line of crystalline modules, including S-Class Deluxe, Excellent, Ultra and Professional modules. The Integration line consists of solar modules for in-roof installation. As one of the leading independent certifying bodies in the United Kingdom, the British Board of Agrément (BBA) is charged with granting the certification. By doing so, the institute verifies the high quality of the modules. The certification process also included an inspection of the Sonnenstromfabrik production facility in Wismar, Germany. Production was expanded in September 2010. With a current capacity of 200 MWp distributed over four production lines, the subsidiary is one of the largest and most efficient solar module manufacturers in Europe.

In the United Kingdom, operators only receive the feed-in tariff for solar energy if the modules are certified under MCS. This is part of the government's strategy to establish standards for the use of renewable energy and create greater transparency in terms of product quality. In addition, Centrosolar works exclusively with MCS-certified installers who meet the same high standards of quality. "We see a tremendous potential in the attractive feed-in tariff offered in the United Kingdom, especially in the area of in-roof and on-roof systems, which are at the core of Centrosolar's business. We have spent much time and effort in thoroughly preparing for our entry into the UK market. Now that we have received certification, we are glad to finally start our activities," states Simon Gerrard, Managing Director of Centrosolar UK Ltd.
